A Bittersweet Fourth

The Fourth of July – quite possibly one of my favorite holidays – is a wonderful celebration of our nation’s independence, as well as a time to enjoy summer, friends, family, and all that is classic American eats. Although I enjoy every Fourth of July that rolls around, this will be the most memorable and bittersweet one to date.

I say ‘bittersweet’ because this will be the last time my entire family will gather at my house on Waneta Drive. This house has been our home for over twenty years, and the time has come where Cole and I close this chapter in our life and embark on a new adventure together. We will be moving at the end of July – an exciting, yet heart-wrenching move.

However, I am so looking forward to this Fourth as Kitty and Oliver (her fiancé) will be welcoming Oliver’s family to our home all the way from London, England. Cole and I will be hosting a Fourth of July wedding rehearsal cookout if you will. We plan to shower the couple of the hour, as well as our new family, with love and the best American food the U.S. of A. can offer. Who doesn’t love hotdogs, hamburgers and some great Texas Barbeque?

The following day, Kitty and Oliver will say ‘I do’. A moment that every grandmother looks forward to seeing. A moment that we will all remember for the rest of our lives. A sweet, sweet moment for our entire family.

I look forward to celebrating my country, my home and my family this weekend. And, I look forward for the exciting new adventures that are to come!
